Welcome To LWCS Transportation!

 

 

Lake Wales Charter Schools is located in the City of Lake Wales, Florida. Lake Wales Charter Schools Transportation Department considers it a privilege and honor to transport the students of Lake Wales and surrounding areas to school each day. It is our goal to provide efficient and timely student transportation to school daily. We can accomplish this goal by working with parents, guardians, and school staff to ensure that students are arriving for school each day and ready to participate in the learning process.

We transport more than 2,100 students daily to our 7 schools consisting of Lake Wales High School, Edward Bok Academy, Bok Academy North, Dale R. Fair Babson Park Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Janie Howard Wilson Elementary, and Polk Avenue Elementary. Our Drivers and support personnel are highly trained, motivated, and experienced to provide transportation services to all eligible students.

We ask for your assistance in continuing to help us maintain this goal by having your students at their assigned bus stops on time each day. Lake Wales Charter Schools Transportation Department is ready and willing to drive success into our schools and together we can assure the best and brightest future for all students that attend our schools.

Employment Criteria

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida Driver's License (minimum five years driving) and able to obtain out-of-state records if needed.
  • 21 or older
  • Able to pass a Drug test
  • Able to pass a Level 2 fingerprinting and background test
  • Pass 40 hours of classroom and Behind-the-Wheel training.
  • Pass the state CDL course test.
  • Obtain passenger and student endorsements by passing general knowledge, air brakes, and passenger tests at DMV.
  • Pass a dexterity test and physical exam.

49 CFR 391.41 Driver Qualifications

By Federal regulation: Specific medically disqualifying conditions found under 49 CFR 391.41 are hearing loss, vision loss, epilepsy, pacemakers, and insulin use. Drivers who require a diabetes or vision exemption to safely drive a CMV in addition to those pre-printed on the medical certification form, are disqualified until they receive such an exemption. Any DUI/DWI reckless driving inference will be automatically disqualified.
